Jason's story

What happens when you reach the top alongside legends — and still feel like you missed?

Jason Cram competed alongside Ian Thorpe and Grant Hackett. He holds gold medals at the Commonwealth Games, World Championships, and World Lifesaving Championships. By every external measure, he was one of the best swimmers in the world.

He narrowly missed Olympic selection. And for 18 years, that shaped how he felt about all of it.

The journey from elite athlete to aquaphobia specialist — from frustrated retiree to someone who genuinely loves what he does every day — that’s what Jason speaks about. Not the medals. The 18 years after them.

It’s a story about what achievement actually costs, what it gives back, and how you find your purpose when the thing that defined you is over.
